One thing I must mention is that there are a number of ways to convert the glass area of the frame to an aged mirror. You can choose to use either a gelatin or silver. For something cheaper you can go for aluminum leaf. I am aware that some people have tried these methods to no avail especially because of some difficulty removing the grey paint on the back of a new mirror and under that is silver and copper plating.
So another option is to use what is known as Antique Mirror Patina, which is an alkaline solution that is water based and and mimics the blemish and aged look of antique mirrors. To cover a square feet you may have to spend something like $2, which could add up to about $80 for a standard mirror.
