Just because you’ve got a small bedroom doesn’t mean you can’t give it a big design. But first, you’re going to have to maximize every tiny bit of space you have in every way you can. Then make careful decisions on basic design elements such as color and lighting. Yes, both of these and more can spell a lot of difference in the perspective of space. It’s basic that a small area cramped with many things looks even smaller. That means if you want to increase the visual space of your room, you should make it a point to keep everything in order. Properly designated storage areas will be necessary in enlarging your space. For example, built in cabinets will work better compared to cupboards. Mirrors are also your best friends when it comes making space look bigger. If you get at least two large ones for at least two walls in your room, you’ll be amazed at the difference. Not only do mirrors add space. They create depth as well. The color that works for you will be light ones. You can have the earth tones or pastels. Anything should work as long as it’s light. Of course, it’s given that the color matches your bedroom furniture and other décor. Dark colors tend to pull everything into the middle, thus, making the room look even smaller. Dark blues and maroons are, by no means, what you need if an illusion of space is what you’re after. Lighting is another key element that you’ll want to be careful with. Definitely, go for soft and mild lighting. Putting a bulb close to your bed also makes the room look wider. Dimmers shouldn’t be a problem. Get wall-mounted lamps, though, and not stand alone lamps (for obvious reasons.) Getting the right bed is also important. A platform bed should work for you. Because they’re low-set, they reduce the space they consume, thus, giving you an impression of more a wider area. And they provide inbuilt storage advantage. Again, that’s great opportunity to cut back on space. Plain beddings also help to maximize the look of the room compared to those with large or heavy prints. The same principle holds for curtains and other draperies. Nightstands, armoires, and other bedroom furniture that are slim also tend to increase the perception of space in a room compared to bulky pieces. And you’ll do well avoiding ceiling cabinets because they do make a room look smaller. Of course, you can never underestimate the value of fine bedroom furniture so if you should buy some, know what bedroom furniture set works for you to be able to create that bedroom that you deserve.

If you’re getting fed up with your bedroom décor, you probably need to give it a new look. Don’t be scared of the cost, though. There is a way to do that renovation while staying friendly with your savings. The first thing you’re thinking of is probably to purchase new furniture. Actually, you can always use what you already have and just perhaps play it up a bit. Give it some new twists and turns. For example, get new curtains. Get them in a new color but that which still matches your walls and your décor. Repaint that bedroom furniture set to make the new look turn into more pronounced. A rule of thumb for redecorating a bedroom is always, first, removing of stuffs that don’t belong in the bedroom. There are people who are so afraid of throwing things not because they need them but just because they think the number of years they’ve had a thing counts for a good reason to keep it. Remember, when you have too much in your bedroom, you’ve already cut its chances of looking good by half. You have to be able to see your bedroom in its essential form for you to have ideas on how to pretty it up. As far as making you bedroom look great, color is always important. Get at least two matching colors and have different shades of them in your furniture, beddings, curtains and other décor. Aside from picking the right colors, you have to keep in mind the importance of sticking to just two colors that you can play with. If you have too many, you run the menace of ending up with a disorganized and unflattering design. The key is to keep things simple. If this room is going to be a place for you to relax, sleep and commune with yourself, you should tone it down and make it conducive to such important rituals. Simple designs are also more attractive than those that have too many details. In fact, the best bedroom designs are made of simply fine bedroom furniture and simple decors that use a simple color scheme. Giving your bedroom a makeover can be thrilling as it tends to squeeze out those creative juices. From time to time, you end up surprised at what you’ve done. You perhaps thought this wasn’t your cup of tea but as long as you keep to the fundamentals and keep them simple, you’re always going to arrive at a great design. If you make a decision to buy new bedroom furniture, it still shouldn’t hurt your budget as there are many discount bedroom furniture choices you can get for nice styles and friendly costs.
